Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?

Thu Mar 19, 2009, 6:07 PM
  • Mood: Shame
  • Reading: 'Women' by Charles Bukowski.
So, I did it again. I got lazy over my winter break and instead of writing, I spent most of my time thinking about what I was going to write. I'm a terrible person. Seriously.

I dropped out of my journalism minor a few weeks ago. Sadly, I got into an argument with my teacher over an assignment in which I had to drive to five restaurants of her choice and interview their owners. I had no gas in my car, $3 in the wallet, and an 8:30 a.m. class the next day (this class ended at 8:00 p.m.) So I bailed on the class after she screamed at me. I dropped the class that night and my minor the next morning. Now I can graduate in the fall without complication.

The advanced fiction class I'm taking is turning out to be really helpful. My teacher, David Galef, (Look him up - he's well-known) is amazing. The class is small and a good number of them can actually write, but still, there are one or two that should consider changing their major. Who starts a story with, "The car turned in to the driveway and I smiled"? *vomits*

Since the economy sucks, I'm putting graduate school on hold. I'm keeping my regular job, but making them send me back to community college for a degree in Criminal Justice. Yes, you can laugh. But until I channel enough of Charles Bukowski and Jack Kerouac to pay my bills and keep the fridge stocked, it's a 9-to-5 day for me.

Love, Megan.

I really dig your poetry.

I would describe it using words like "miniskirt", "vodka", and "bullets".

And the rest is rust and stardust.
I bet people think that your Dev ID is a blurry picture of you, but they don't realize that you actually appear blurred in real life.
